Yuri Grier
I was born in Tokyo, Japan. I worked as a Fashion Designer for several company brands after graduating from Bunka Fashion College. I immigrated to Canada and live in the Lower Mainland, British Columbia.
I am a self-taught painter. My paintings have been shown around the Lower Mainland and collected in private homes in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Japan.
The contrasts of my life experiences, growing up in the concrete jungle that is Tokyo, and my current life in British Columbia with its beautiful nature and landscapes influence my work.

Description: I was inspired to paint this painting when I walked on a path where I walk regularly filled with spotted light. The beauty of the sunlight filtered through the branches and leaves welcomed me to paint. Paths are one of the subjects that I paint in oil repeatedly.

Title: Harmony – Pears
Description: I often paint pears in small-sized canvases after I have worked on a bigger-sized painting for a long time. And then, I simply have fun painting those pear paintings. I found an interesting balance between two pears and their shadows when I arranged pears with lighting in my studio for “Harmony – Pears”.
