A Chat with Heidi Greco

A Chat with Heidi Greco

Have you seen the cult-classic film Harold and Maude?

This movie takes the viewer on a journey with Harold, a young man obsessed with death who is transformed by love. On this journey we learn perhaps the most important lesson about life itself. Faced by traumatic circumstances we have a choice. We can sink into pessimism and nihilism, or we can live life to the fullest, embracing all it has to offer.

On March 18 @5:00PM, Semiahmoo Arts Society is hosting a livestreaming talk with Heidi Greco, writer of Glorious Birds. It is a book celebrating the beloved cult film, Harold and Maude, released fifty years ago in 1971.

Greco explores what that era was like, its innocence as well as some of its dark episodes. Offering insights gleaned from substantial research, she speculates on what might have inspired screenwriter Colin Higgins and director Hal Ashby. In addition, she discusses Cat Stevens’ music and how that soundtrack is so integral to the film. She also shares personal thoughts on the experience of viewing it–how it has affected her over the years.

This talk will be streamed March 18th @ 5:00PM

An extra special thanks to The Writers Union of Canada and The Canada Council of Arts for their support.
