Artist Interviews

Meet Katina Giesbrecht

In the midst of a fast-paced and high-tech world, Katina desires to find peace through artful expressions. Her artistic practice includes acrylic monotypes that hold multiple layers and calm colours of semi-realistic landscapes and abstracts. She enjoys creating pieces that reflect a gentle respite, a place to pause. She also creates artist books using her monotypes to continue the narrative that she communicates through her art—that life is beautiful.

Katina Giesbrecht is a visual artist, graphic designer, and art instructor from Surrey. She enjoys teaching a variety of art classes—printmaking, art journaling, and colour theory—to children, youth and, adults. She has a bachelor’s degree in Applied Design (KPU) and an Associates’ Certificate in Graphic Design (BCIT).

About ‘Finding Home in theCity’

‘Finding Home in the City’ is an artist book that explores the sense of home we feel in different locations or seasons of life. Each page is similar in design but different in composition to reflect how we can feel differently about time and place.
