Remembrance Day

Remembering
One day
They will be gone
The storm will be gone
The harm will be gone
And we will be safe
One day
We will choose to forget
Choose to soak up the tears
And pretend we never met
As if the death of a soldier
Meant nothing
As if right now their family isn’t crying
We all choose to forget
Like as if it was their duty
To leave their family behind
Along with their memories
And if the soldiers come back
Their smile
Will dissipate
Their hearts will break
A part of them
Will never be the same
And we take it all for granted:
The safe house
The safe neighborhood
The safe country
The security
The immunity
Our blessings
The serenity
We take it all for granted;
Every loss of life
With every grieving husband and wife
So “Lest we forget” today!
