FAQ

We offer Pottery, Visual Arts, and Performing Arts. The course subject matter depends on the specialties of our artists/instructors. Our core set of classes includes, but is not limited to:

Kids:

  • Creative Pottery
  • Drawing Skill Building
  • Painting with the Masters
  • Writing and Drawing (Story Art)
  • Mixed Media (Imagine Art! and Little Art Explorers)
  • Performing Arts such as Musical Theatre

Adult:

  • Intro to Pottery Wheel
  • Intro to Handbuilding Pottery
  • Intro to Watercolour
  • Intro to Acrylic
  • Draw Like a Beginner

We offer new classes sessions each season. Most classes are offered through the city of Surrey Recreation Guide and as such are subject to their registration dates, as listed below. Specialty classes and workshops are offered through our Shopify system and will be released around the same time but new classes can be added throughout the year. The age requirement for our kids courses can start as young as ages 4 and up. We offer parent participation classes for younger ages, including Messy Babies from 4 months to 2 years old and Little Art Explorers for ages 2 to 4 years old.

 

All participants for adult specified courses must be at least 18 years old or older.

Our course descriptions will state if supplies are included, but they are as follows:
  • Kids classes – All supplies are included.
  • Adult pottery – Clay (if specified), underglaze, glaze, and firings included.
  • Adult ‘intro’ visual arts – Basic supplies to get you started. Additional supplies will be discussed in class by the supply list provided. You are welcome to bring your own supplies if you have them on hand.
  • Adult visual arts – Case by case. All classes will have access to basic supplies such as: pallets, water cups, rulers, scissors, printer paper, and HB pencils. A supply list will be provided prior or on the first day.

Our current refund policy with the City of Surrey classes follows the city policy which is:

  • A full refund is allowed less an administration fee. Fees are $5 for programs costing less than $250 and $25 for classes over $250. Please contact the city for more information at 604-592-6970.

If you are dropping the class after the start date the refund will be prorated based on the number of classes left.

  • For classes offered through our Shopify site, there are no refunds after 24hr before the start of the class. To request a refund, please contact us at [email protected] with your name, class name, and the reason for a refund.
  • Note: Full refund will be issued if Semiahmoo Arts cancels the course.

 

New Withdrawal Fees Effective for the Summer Season (July 1):

Program Withdrawal Fee: Program withdrawal fees apply within 7 days of the start of a program. A $15 withdrawal fee applies to all programs except for:

  • Day Camps: if a patron withdraws within 7 days of the program’s start date, a 50% withdrawal fee on the course fee they paid applies.
  • Birthday Parties: if a patron withdraws within 14 days of the program’s start date, a 50% withdrawal fee on the course fee they paid applies.
  • Year Long Preschool and Before & After School Care programs: 1 calendar month notice is required to withdraw. Patrons withdrawing without notice will be charged an additional month’s fee.

If a patron wants to transfer within 7 days of the program’s start date, there will be the $15 withdrawal fee for most programs and the 50% withdrawal fee for camps.

If a patron withdraws from a program with extra fees (e.g. supplies) within 7 days of its start date, the extra fees will not be refunded.

If a patron withdraws from a program after its start date, they will receive a prorated refund for the program, minus the program’s respective withdrawal fee.

For classes purchased on the City of Surrey website, they are not transferable.

Please call us 604-536-8333. Bookings canceled or altered within 14 days of the event will be subject to a fee.

No decorations on the walls are allowed, but you are welcome to bring tabletop or stand-alone decorations. Music can also be played as long as the volume is kept to a moderate level. You can contact the office for information on how to access our sound system or bring your own.

At the bottom right corner of every page, you will see a sign-up form to subscribe to our newsletter. This is the best way to get notified of our upcoming shows and events.

At the bottom of every newsletter, you will see “Want to change how you receive these emails? You can update your preferences or unsubscribe.” Click “unsubscribe” to stop receiving our newsletters.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover if you purchase the membership online. We also accept cash at our office in South Surrey Recreation and Arts Centre, open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday to Friday.
