Marketing & Events Assistant
Marketing & Events Assistant
$24/hour | 30 hours per week | Tuesday – Saturday | May 25 – Aug 21, 2026 with potential for extension.
Please note that this position is funded in part by the Canada Summer Jobs Program which means applicants must be:
- between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
- a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred; and
- legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
Job Description:
The Marketing & Events Assistant will assist SAS in bringing “art for everyone” to the community via numerous summer events, including the 11th annual Paint the Town, presented by Schill Insurance. This position is ideal for someone who is creative, highly-organized, reliable, flexible and who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Multimedia Creation & Coordination (50%)
- Produce multimedia assets including photography, designing social media graphics, and short-form video such as reels
- Write and post social media and website content
- Update website
- Ensure content adherence to accessibility and brand guidelines
- Maintain shared SAS content calendar
- Establish project metrics and report analytics
Event Coordination & Logistics (50%)
- Preparing and implementing special event promotional and logistical plans and checklists
- Recruiting and supervising volunteers
Qualifications:
- Completion or in-process of completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in marketing, graphic design or digital design
- 1-2 years experience in graphic design and digital content creation an asset
- Solid foundation in marketing communications practices and principles
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Superior organizational skills with ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Previous work in the arts and/or charitable sector an asset
Portfolio demonstrating:
- Social content, campaign creative, or advertising visuals
- Video editing (reels, animations, short-form content)
- Brand storytelling through visual design

About Semiahmoo Arts Society
Semiahmoo Arts Society (SAS) is a community organization and registered charity that provides opportunities for “arts for everyone” in the South Surrey White Rock area. We believe that art and its creation is foundational to a healthy community, and that everyone should have access to the many health and social benefits of participating in art making.
SAS programs include visual art, pottery, and performing arts taught by artists and art educators, exhibitions and support for practicing local artists, low-cost and free community art events, as well as outreach programs designed for seniors, families, youth, and adults living with developmental disabilities. Established in 1974, Semiahmoo Arts Society is located in the South Surrey Recreation & Arts Centre where we operate the arts space, including the Turnbull Gallery, the Funke Family Visual Arts Studio, and a 14-wheel pottery studio.
Summer Camp Volunteer
Summer Camp Volunteer
Camps operate July 6 – Sept 4 | Mon-Fri, 9am-3pm | 4 week commitment | Honorarium, $250/week
*Attendance is mandatory for training on Thurs July 2 and Fri July 3.
Role Description:
LITs assist instructors and camp leaders in supervising campers and leading program activities. This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain experience leading children in an arts recreation setting, and in working as part of a team. This is a volunteer role, however a weekly $250 honorarium will be provided to LITs who demonstrate reliability and commitment for the full week of camp.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist art instructors and camp leaders in delivering fun, creative camp programming.
- Ensure campers are safe, engaged, and included in all activities.
- Assist with setting up and cleaning up activities and supplies.
- Follow camp policies and guidance from camp leaders.
Qualifications:
- Reliable, enthusiastic, and comfortable working with children.
- Flexible and adaptable to different camp activities.
- Ability to commit to at least four (4) weeks work during the summer (up to nine (9) weeks available)
- Must be available July 2 and 3 to attend on-site staff orientation/training.
- Interest in gaining experience in leadership and working with children.
- Interest in visual and/or performing arts preferred.
- First Aid Certificate a strong asset.

SAS offers quality, full-day summer camps which include half-day instruction in pottery, visual arts, and/or performing arts, and half-day participating in creative and physical activities, including outdoor games, crafts, nature exploration, playground and waterpark outings.
