Camp Coordinator

$24/hour | 35 hours per week for 12 weeks | June 15 – Sept 4

Job Description:

The Summer Camp Coordinator will play a key role in preparing and operating SAS’ summer arts camp program. Prior to summer camps starting, you will be responsible for camp program planning and scheduling and will develop and coordinate the leader training/orientation session. Once camps begin, you will supervise leaders and LITs, ensure that policies and procedures are followed, track staff hours, determine coverage as needed and lead a camp as required. This is a paid full-time position starting June 15.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Camp (June)

  • Plan and prepare weekly camp programming activities.
  • Support scheduling and onboarding of camp staff.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating staff orientation/training.
  • Assist with ordering and sorting supplies.


Camp (July–August)

  • Supervise and support camp leaders and leaders-in-training (LITs).
  • Ensure all policies, procedures, and safety protocols are consistently followed.
  • Track staff hours and manage coverage as needed.
  • Serve as a point of contact for staff questions and camp operations.
  • Lead an outdoor camp and engage directly with campers.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience leading camp programs for children in a recreation setting.
  • Current post-secondary student in Fine Arts or Arts Education, or equivalent background experience/ demonstrated interest in visual and/or performing arts preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong organization and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Energetic, proactive, and enthusiastic about working with children and staff team.
  • Previous supervisory experience an asset.
  • First Aid Certificate required.

Semiahmoo Arts Society (SAS) is a community organization and registered charity which provides opportunities for “arts for everyone” in South Surrey and White Rock. Our programs include pottery,
visual, and performing arts taught by artists and art educators, support for artists through memberships and exhibitions, as well as outreach and adapted programs and events for families, seniors, adults with developmental disabilities, and children with special needs.

SAS offers quality, full-day summer camps which include half-day instruction in pottery, visual arts, and/or performing arts, and half-day participating in creative and physical activities, including outdoor games, crafts, nature exploration, playground and waterpark outings, and swimming.

Summer Camp Leader

Four (4) positions | $20/hour | 8:45am-3:15pm | Mon-Fri | July 2 – Sept 4

*Attendance is mandatory for training on Thurs July 2 and Fri July 3.  

Job Description:

We are seeking four (4) enthusiastic, responsible Summer Camp Leaders. As a Summer
Camp Leader you will supervise and lead campers in creative, fun activities, including games,
crafts, nature walks, playground, and waterpark outings. This is a full-time summer
position reporting to the Camp Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and engage children in outdoor creative and active play and programming.
  • Support a positive, safe, and inclusive camp environment.
  • Collaborate with fellow instructors and camp staff to coordinate daily camp activities.
  • Maintain a tidy, organized outdoor activity area.
Qualifications:
  • Experience working with children in a camp, school or recreational setting preferred.
  • Warm, friendly, enthusiastic personality.
  • Ability to work full-time during the summer.
  • Comfortable leading outdoor activities and managing groups of children safely.
  • Arts education background an asset.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • First Aid Certificate required.

Marketing & Events Assistant

$24/hour | 30 hours per week | Tuesday – Saturday | May 25 – Aug 21, 2026 with potential for extension. Please note that this position is funded in part by the Canada Summer Jobs Program which means applicants must be:
  • between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
  • a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred; and
  • legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
Job Description:
The Marketing & Events Assistant will assist SAS in bringing “art for everyone” to the community via numerous summer events, including the 11th annual Paint the Town, presented by Schill Insurance. This position is ideal for someone who is creative, highly-organized, reliable, flexible and who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Multimedia Creation & Coordination (50%)
  • Produce multimedia assets including photography, designing social media graphics, and short-form video such as reels
  • Write and post social media and website content
  • Update website
  • Ensure content adherence to accessibility and brand guidelines 
  • Maintain shared SAS content calendar
  • Establish project metrics and report analytics
Event Coordination & Logistics (50%)
  • Preparing and implementing special event promotional and logistical plans and checklists
  • Recruiting and supervising volunteers
Qualifications:
  • Completion or in-process of completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in marketing, graphic design or digital design
  • 1-2 years experience in graphic design and digital content creation an asset
  • Solid foundation in marketing communications practices and principles
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Superior organizational skills with ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Previous work in the arts and/or charitable sector an asset

Portfolio demonstrating:
  • Social content, campaign creative, or advertising visuals 
  • Video editing (reels, animations, short-form content) 
  • Brand storytelling through visual design
