Semiahmoo Arts is an umbrella organization dedicated to supporting the arts community in White Rock and South Surrey. The Council facilitates collaborative cultural endeavors and supports artists in a variety of creative disciplines. From community outreach to mentorship, the Arts Council is an active and pro-active team working to foster a thriving and diverse art community.

We create opportunities for local artists to display their artwork, both online and in-person exhibitions at our own Turnbull Gallery. We are dedicated to providing classes for both youth and adults as well as facilitating community dance, music and literary events. We value your support.

Ulee’s Campaign

Dr. Ulduz (Ulee) Maschaykh was raised in Cologne, Germany, and came to the Executive Director at SAS in 2019 with an impressive resume that included bachelors, masters and doctorate degrees from the University of Bonn, and worked as a postdoctoral research fellow at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario.

History

1969

Beginning in 1969, members of the White Rock Painting and Sketch Club, White Rock Players Club, and  White Rock Overture Society met to discuss the need for an arts society and plan its implementation.

1984

In 1984, the White Rock Players Club requested funding from the White Rock City Council to renovate  their theatre.
