Poppies #1

This year I planted a LOT of flowers and tried to paint them as they came up. After watching the stems and leaves of these poppies develop for months, it was incredibly exciting to wake up one morning and see that they had suddenly appeared in full bloom! Unfortunately, they started to wither the same day that they came up due to the heatwave. So I grabbed my paints and painted them quickly to try and capture their stunning, yet brief beauty. I love watching all the plants blooming in spring and summer; to me, they are tiny gifts that magically appear, and their fleeting beauty must be appreciated before they disappear again for another year.
