It appears to me that this electricity within is none other than the aliveness, the animating presence within my body. This painting was Inspired by the poem “I Sing the Body Electric”. It is a poem by Walt Whitman from his 1855 collection Leaves of Grass. Whitman celebrates the glories of existence, explores the body as a whole and in its parts, and the interconnectedness of body and soul, and interconnectedness of all irrespective of their race.
