Summer Camp Volunteer

Camps operate July 6 – Sept 4 |  Mon-Fri, 9am-3pm | 4 week commitment | Honorarium, $250/week

*Attendance is mandatory for training on Thurs July 2 and Fri July 3.  

Role Description:

LITs assist instructors and camp leaders in supervising campers and leading program activities. This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain experience leading children in an arts recreation setting, and in working as part of a team. This is a volunteer role, however a weekly $250 honorarium will be provided to LITs who demonstrate reliability and commitment for the full week of camp.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist art instructors and camp leaders in delivering fun, creative camp programming.
  • Ensure campers are safe, engaged, and included in all activities.
  • Assist with setting up and cleaning up activities and supplies.
  •  Follow camp policies and guidance from camp leaders.

 

Qualifications:

  • Reliable, enthusiastic, and comfortable working with children.
  • Flexible and adaptable to different camp activities.
  • Ability to commit to at least four (4) weeks work during the summer (up to nine (9) weeks available)
  • Must be available July 2 and 3 to attend on-site staff orientation/training.
  • Interest in gaining experience in leadership and working with children.
  •  Interest in visual and/or performing arts preferred.
  •  First Aid Certificate a strong asset.

About Semiahmoo Arts Society:

Semiahmoo Arts Society (SAS) is a community organization and registered charity which provides opportunities for “arts for everyone” in South Surrey and White Rock. Our programs include pottery, visual, and performing arts taught by artists and art educators, support for artists through memberships and exhibitions, as well as outreach and adapted programs and events for families, seniors, adults with developmental disabilities, and children with special needs.

SAS offers quality, full-day summer camps which include half-day instruction in pottery, visual arts, and/or performing arts, and half-day participating in creative and physical activities, including outdoor games, crafts, nature exploration, playground and waterpark outings.
