Pottery Summer Camp Instructor

Organization Description: Semiahmoo Arts Society is a charity arts organization that has been providing arts and culture services to the White Rock and South Surrey community since 1974. In addition to our visual and performing arts programs, we run a premium pottery studio out of the South Surrey Recreation and Arts Centre where we provide pottery classes and camps for all ages and skill levels.
Job Description: We are looking for a Pottery Instructor to teach pottery to children and youth, ages 4-12 and 13-18, during our summer camp program in July and August. The program runs with two camps each day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. The instructor will develop and lead engaging classes for both age groups. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently and adapt their teaching methods to meet the varying skill levels of students.
Qualifications:
- Post Secondary Program that specializes in ceramics
- Previous teaching experience required
- Demonstrated abilities and a strong knowledge of wheel throwing and hand building techniques
- Strong leadership skills and ability to work in a fast pace environment
- Successful candidates are required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check in accordance with Semiahmoo Art Society’s policy
Schedule: Temporary, full-time position. Monday to Friday 8:30am – 4:30 pm from July 2, 2025 – August 29, 2025. Opportunity for continued employment in Fall 2025.
Remuneration: $25-$40/hour depending on education and teaching experience.

- Strong leadership skills and ability to work in a fast pace environment
- Successful candidates are required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check in accordance with Semiahmoo Art Society’s policy
