Linda Bickerton-Ross
Linda Bickerton-Ross is a Canadian fine art, street and documentary photographer who regularly exhibits her work at the Surrey Art Gallery, the Richmond Art Gallery and the Turnbull Art Gallery in British Columbia. During 2022, her work was accepted and shown at the Richmond Art Gallery juried exhibition, ArtRich2022, the Surrey Art Gallery juried exhibition, Arts2022 and at the Vancouver Convention Centre for Art Vancouver 2022. Her formal work during the past two years has focused on a digital documentary project, The Birthing of a High Rise, completed with the assistance of a Digital Doorways initiative sponsored by the ArtsCan Resource Network; a fine art series, Islands, and, currently, a grouping of abstract photos for an upcoming series, Voyeur.

Description: Paradox is part of The Birthing of a High-Rise project. The project documents the building of the final towers that completed the construction of Miramar Village in White Rock, BC. As in many cities across North America, there has been intense controversy in this small seaside town about the changing skyline; one fueled by immigration, shifting demographics and the shrinking space left for new buildings.
Are these structures the answer to our housing crises? Do they solve the affordability issues that plague our modern cities? Are they beautiful or ugly? Do they create or destroy communities? The Birthing of Miramar Village is a microcosm that reflects these universal questions in our modern cities, both small and large.
