My Garuda

Being one quarter Indonesian, my art reflects that part of my heritage. This Javan Hawk-Eagle is the national bird of Indonesia, and is commonly called Garuda. On the country’s flag, the Garuda holds a banner in its claws which reads ‘Bhinneka Tunggal Ika; this is old Javanese for “Unity in Diversity”. I believe in diversity uniting us all, as does the Arts, making us stronger when we work together.
