Salmon

Description: I went to see the Fraser River to watch the salmon in 2010. At first I felt a sense of tragedy. Until now, that feeling has not disappeared in my mind.

When I painted this picture, my mind was not on the red fish, but the idea that the salmon in the red river might disappear. I also painted it as an incomplete salmon, in a state of incompleteness. It also shows that the fish is not afraid to die. I hope this image encourages us humans to consider our impact on nature and the beautiful natural phenomenon of the salmon?

Tiger

Description: My tiger is a changing tiger. That was what I saw on the wall outside a cave dwelling in Ansai, Shaanxi, China more than 20 years ago. It is farmers who colored paper and cotton by hand, according to the traditional Chinese folk style. It was a hand-made large tiger (also called “gluttonous”), which is a traditional mascot to ward off evil spirits and protect our safety. I kept the meaning of it and added a modern lens to be seen in a new world.
